Manual Bills Overview

Manual Bills can be used to enter A/R values which are not processed through normal transaction and billing procedures. They are often used for beginning balances or for when a bill was manually created outside of Juris. Timekeeper hours and rates, and other fee/expense coding (i.e., Task Codes, Activity Codes, Optional Codes) are not allowed.

Some things to keep in mind when working with manual bills are:

  • Manual bills post as soon as you save them, so any changes you need to make have to be done through credit memos.

To edit a manual bill, you create a negative adjustment credit memo to negate the original manual bill, and then create a new manual bill with the correct information.

  • Manual bills cannot be deleted. However, an offsetting negative adjustment can be applied through a credit memos.

To delete a manual bill, you create a negative adjustment using a credit memo.

  • Manual Bills do not include options for 'mark ready to post' and 'post' since they post immediately upon saving.
  • To reverse a manual bill, you create a negative manual bill to negate the original manual bill, and then create a zero dollar cash receipt to prevent both manual bills from showing up on your Aged A/R Analysis reports.
  • Manual Bills cannot be edited, so they do not include an option to print an edit.
  • Manual Bills include the option to print an audit list. For further information, see Print Audit List.
  • Manual Bills include the option to print batch logs. For further information, see Print Log.
  • Manual Bills include the option to purge transactions. For further information, see Purge Transactions.
  • Manual Bills include the option to unlock transactions. For further information, see Unlock Transactions.
